Bradford Bulls rugby league player Sam was born on 14 December 1988. He grew up in Liversedge with his three brothers; Luke, who is older than Sam, and twins, Tom and George. They all attended Norristhorpe Junior and Infant School, before Sam then went to Heckmondwike Grammar School for his secondary education.
Sam’s dad, Mark, was a professional rugby player, playing for Hunslet and Dewsbury as well as in France. Sam got into rugby through both his parents, his mother Julie also played the sport. Sam and his friends played at Dewsbury Moor from the age of six all the way to 16.
Growing up he loved the sport, was inspired by professionals and used them as role models. Players like Andy Farrell were people to look up to and he was also driven by family. Sam played for England Schoolboys before joining the Bulls when he was 16. His brother Luke plays for Leeds Rhinos and both Tom and George are at Bradford Bulls.
Sam says: "It’s great to be asked to be involved with the b someone campaign. I hope what has happened to me will inspire others to achieve their ultimate goals. If you have a desire to achieve something then only through hard work and your own belief will you reach your goal. Remember, almost anything is possible. Keep smiling when you’re working it brings out the best in your performance."
