Make this summer an unforgettable one and take part in this exciting opportunity.

Young people in the Bradford district will have the chance to make this summer one which they will remember forever.

For Bradford Council's Youth Service has been selected to take part in the Summer of a Lifetime pilot project. It will give a group of 60, 16-year-olds the opportunity to take part in new experiences and broaden their horizons.

The Council was approached by the national volunteering organisation 'v', which encourages and helps young people get involved with their communities, after the district successfully took part in the v-talent volunteering initiative.

This saw - how many young people getting involved? from when to when? Giving up their time to help their peers and - an example/2 of what they did?

The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust is also one of the scheme's partners which will see 11,000 young people nationally taking part.

It is funded by central government and the Council in partnership with local businesses.

Bradford Youth Worker and project co-ordinator Ash Ibrahim said: "The programme will include three residentials - in the Yorkshire Dales, Cumbria and Bradford during July and August - where participants will explore and discuss community projects they would like to get involved with or set up.

“There will also be various outdoor challenges for them to tackle as well as working in teams to set up a social enterprise project.

“If young people want to find out more they are welcome to give us a call and have a chat, or to come along to the recruitment evening.”

Young people in year 11 or those who will be 16 by August 31 this year are welcome to apply.

The residential evening will be held at the Dubrovnik Hotel, Oak Avenue, Manningham, on Thursday, May 19, 6.15pm to 8.30pm, where more information will be available. People can also text 07582 102175 to have their call returned, telephone the Youth Service on (01274) 432440, or email ash.ibrahim@bradford.gov.uk
