Shooting Stars Event

Young people dreaming of becoming the next Martin Scorsese or Ridley Scott can take part in a special event revealing how they could forge a career in film-making.
Bradford Council and City of Film are organising a day of free workshops led by industry professionals who will give an insight into the work that goes in to making movies.
Roles to be discussed during the event – being held at the National Media Museum from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, October 9th - include screen writing, story boarding, editing, animation and creating musical scores.
Short films produced by local students, including one made by pupils at Titus Salt School and Challenge College about Bradford’s City Park, will also be screened at the Media Museum’s cinemas throughout the day.
Other fun family activities include a 60-minute film production company, creating movie posters, trying out special effects make-up techniques and creating their own sound effects.
City of Film Director Peg Alexander said: “Bradford and Yorkshire both have a proud cinematic history, and Shooting Stars is a great way of finding out more about careers within what is a brilliantly creative industry.
“The workshops and activities will show there are a variety of opportunities for people with different skills – it isn’t all about trying to be an actor.”
Other films being shown at the Media Museum’s Cubby Broccoli and Pictureville cinemas include entries in the City of Film “Made in Bradford” schools competition, City Park Ambassadors’ Film and those created by students as part of Ed Creates, an Education Bradford project.
