The search is on for young people to stand as candidates in the forthcoming Bradford and Keighley Youth Parliament (BKYP) elections.
The Council's Integrated Youth Service is looking for young people, aged between 11 and 21, who want to work with local politicians and decision makers to improve the services the Council delivers.
Candidates must live in the Bradford district and want to make a difference to their community.
Any young person interested in standing for election will be asked to attend two training sessions to help them develop their understanding of what being a member of the youth parliament (an MYP) means and to get help developing their manifesto and election campaign.
The elections will take place on 5-11 March 2011 and the closing date for application is 10 December 2010.
Councillor Ralph Berry, Executive member for Services for Children and Young People, said: "This is an excellent opportunity for young people to give their views to the Council on how they think services should be run and what matters most to them.
"The BKYP is an important area of local democracy and we will listen to members views when making decisions that affect them.
"BKYP is an excellent way of introducing young people to politics and making sure they have a voice in the decision-making of the Council.
This may be a step on the ladder for the leaders of the future."
