 | Hello, my name is Jason and I am 22. My current location of where I live is Crossflatts, my living situation is with my father and his girlfriend, my father is retired, his girlfriend works part time while I’m a voluntary youth worker on the B-Talented scheme which so far has been a fantastic experience which I hope to continue with and hopefully one day become a professional youth worker. My hobbies are music, performing, socialising, reading, going to the cinemas and keeping healthy. I didn’t do particularly great in school with personal problems distracting me at home as well as at school. After school, I was from college to college, course to course. My main interest was always music although I never found anything to incorporate it in to. |
Meanwhile all the time I was at youth centres attending as one of the youth. My confidence and self esteem was crushed through previous problems but the youth workers helped me believe in myself, be more confident and able to achieve things I thought I never would such as perform on stage with my music and go on to do youth work which I really wanted to do after them doing all this for me. I felt that B-Talented would be an excellent opportunity to give something back so I applied and was fortunate enough to be a part of B-Talented.
I am currently involved in a music project, working with a label called Try Life where I am working on making an album; with 2 of my friends (John and Rob) and a producer (Deckstar), Managed by Dan from BCB Radio which will be a concept based album regarding life, situations and dilemmas.
Prior to coming on B-Talented I was unfortunately unemployed and trying anything too get on, get by and work diligently to see my future in the direction of a positive and bright one. From attending Yorkshire business school to develop my grades, to part time cleaning work here and there while at the same time attending the arts working group sessions every Tuesday. Anytime I had spare, I would be performing at various places, writing lyrics and when I could afford it, i would be attending Waxworks initiative studio (Music studio) making instrumentals with (Nick Camaro, Ed William and Gaz) the producers or recording vocals in the process of producing songs.
From a personal angle of growing up in my area there wasn’t a great deal to do so I would have to travel places if I wanted to do something so I would always find myself travelling to Bradford attending Youth Service to become involved with events, performances etc.
My aims after B-Talented would be to further my career as a youth worker and hopefully with my music selling albums as well as helping the youth at the same time with what ever trials and tribulations they may be facing and hopefully helping them over come. As I am firm believer in the phrase “To give is to receive” and helping others is a fulfilling experience that I don’t feel other work could compare with.
