Young people were recognised for their exceptional achievements over the past 12 months at the Young Citizen Awards which took place on 15 March at St George’s Hall.
The awards recognised young people, and groups, who have achieved something exceptional in the previous 12 months in seven categories:
- education and achievement
- health and wellbeing
- business and enterprise
- changing lives and caring for others
- bsomeone for your future
- group award
- outstanding awards.
The awards were presented by local sponsors and celebrities, including Bradford Bulls players; Reece Douglas, who plays Denzil in Waterloo Road; Christa Ackroyd, from BBC Look North and Andy Moss, who plays Rhys in Hollyoaks. The audience also enjoyed live performances from some of the best young creative talent in the district, including musicians and dancers.
Sponsors for the event included Bradford College, Incommunities, Kirkgate Shopping Centre, Yorkshire Building Society and the Council’s bsomeone campaign.
The awards were organised by the Council in partnership with Bradford Children’s Trust, the Telegraph & Argus Newspaper and Young Lives Bradford.
